Erasmus Policy Statement

The Institution’s strategy, objectives and priorities

  1. The priority of the Rzeszow University of Technology for the coming 2007-2013 is to increase the number of outgoing and incoming students and tutors, especially from the newly opened Department of Mathematics and Applied Physics, and stimulate the departments which show relatively low activeness in the mobility. In addition, the University will take the opportunity to offer students placements in enterprises.

    In order to strengthen relations with the partners, the University will strive for initiating multilateral projects and commence study visits to partner institutions.
    Moreover, the University will aim at extending the international cooperation with greater number of partners; consolidate and develop already initiated cooperation with Romania and Bulgaria.

  2. steps undertaken to make Erasmus activities visible:
    • articles in the university magazine
    • publication of the guidebook for future Erasmus students with the description of partner universities and practical information regarding studying there,
    • a web page dedicated to the Erasmus Program, procedures of applying for the mobility (www.prz.edu.pl/fao),
    • announcements on the information boards in every university building and the dormitories
    • radio programs aiming at disseminating information about the program and encouraging partaking in it,
    • Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) will be publicized on the web page www.prz.edu.pl/fao and hang out on the notices boards to make it widely noticeable
    All students are given equal chance to study at the Rzeszow University of Technology, irrespective of the nationality, race and gender.

High quality of academic mobility activities

The implementation of the ECTS system on all of the departments has been completed.
The result of introducing the ECTS points at the University was publishing ‘ECTS – User’s Guide. Information Package – Course Catalogue’ of each department. It includes information on degree programs, detailed description of the subject with ECTS credit and practical information for incoming students concerning living in Rzeszów. It was also done in order to provide the partners with relevant knowledge about studying at the Rzeszow University of Technology. The catalogue will be soon available on the Institution’s web page.
Since 1998 when the Program was initiated there has been no case of refusing to give recognition of the study period abroad.

The Foreign Affairs Office has devised specific actions aiming at improving the quality of the mobility activities:

  1. Participation of Erasmus students, coordinators and administrative staff in the annual education fair organized by the University in which higher education institutions from the Western and Southern part of Poland take part.
  2. information exchange: organizing meetings for future Erasmus beneficiaries with students who have already participated in the mobility activities
  3. encouraging participation in language courses organized in the in the host countries
  4. counseling for individual students by the Office’s staff.
  5. incoming students are offered:
    1. orientation program that includes meeting with the tutors and departmental coordinators, trips to the places of interest in the region ,
    2. pick-up service and guidance of budies,
    3. assistance of the Office,
    4. Polish language classes,
    5. students are guaranteed the accommodation in the dormitory.

Quality of student placement activities

  • Selecting the reliable and proven partners by taking advantage of the cooperation relations with the enterprises already established by the tutors
  • Drawing up a contract with enterprises before putting the mobility activities into operation
  • Selecting students will be based on the knowledge of foreign language and the results of the study period.
  • Intensive language courses for outgoing students
  • determining the placement’s program of training by the responsible coordinator, prior to the student’s departure and consistent with the student’s curriculum specification
  • signing up the contract with the student that includes the placement’s program to be fulfilled,
  • arranging the accommodation for students as well as integration in new environment,
  • fulfillment of the placements will be monitored by the appointed tutors from the respective departments in consultation with the dean of the department. Other organizational issues will be supervised by the Foreign Affairs Office.
  • beneficiary will be given a document by the enterprise confirming realization of the program’s objectives (assumptions) and a final grade corresponding to the actual practical skills acquired by the beneficiary ,
  • submitting by the beneficiary a report from the placement,
  • on the basis of the monitoring and received documentation concerning the placement the department will decide on the extend to which the objectives were achieved and the placement will be given the acknowledgement in the curriculum.
  • Disseminating and transferring the results during the cooperation period between the Parties in order to improve the standards of placements.
